Mossom Creek is pleased to announce that we will be offering our In2Nature summer camps for all young scientists, future biologists, and nature keeners going into grades 3-6! Camps run from 9:00am to 12:30pm, and are offered the weeks of July 19 – 23, July 26 – 30, August 9 – 13 and August 16 – 20. Group sizes will be limited to a maximum of 10 participants, and will follow Covid-19 safety guidelines.

NEW Outdoor Explorer Program for home learners.
We are excited to invite kids in grades 4, 5, or 6 to an outdoor ed-venture at Mossom Creek Hatchery and Education Centre this spring!
Held one day per week from April 6 – May 13 and May 18 – June 24, the Mossom Creek Outdoor Explorer Program provides a curriculum-based outdoor nature experience to home learners in grade 4, 5 or 6. Programs follow a COVID safety plan and are designed by certified teachers and nature experts to provide kids with unique hands-on learning opportunities in the beautiful Mossom Creek watershed. We seek to inspire youth to explore the natural world around them, to gain an understanding of the role they can play in their local ecosystem, and to provide fun and engaging activities to enhance their outdoor experiences.
Each weekly program takes place outdoors where kids can stretch their legs and their minds and develop a greater awareness of the natural world.

For more than 43 years the Mossom Creek Hatchery site has been a place for students to assist with salmonid enhancement activities. We now have a thriving and active hatchery program that is managed by community volunteers as part of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Salmonid Enhancement Program (SEP). If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact us about regular weekday feeding opportunities.
SALMON SUNDAY VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
One of our longest-standing programs has been our Salmon Sunday volunteer program. Join us any Sunday, rain or shine, to visit the Mossom Creek Centre and help out with odd jobs, and learn about watershed stewardship and fish culture. The hatchery is located at the end of Mossom Creek Drive (up the 1 km gravel road). The gate is open each Sunday from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm. We welcome visitors, casual and regular volunteers. A great Sunday activity for friends and family, young and old! Please note, due to Covid-19 we are currently on a limited schedule and closed to drop-in visitors on Sundays.
