Documentary, ‘Salmon in the Line’: In 1981, David Suzuki brought his Nature of Things TV show to the banks of Mossom Creek in Port Moody, British Columbia, to film a salmon enhancement project operated by student volunteers at Centennial Senior Secondary in Coquitlam. This after school club has been operating since 1976 and gave birth to the Mossom Creek Hatchery. This is perhaps the longest running Community Involvement Project (37+ years) in the Salmonid Enhancement Program of Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Several of the students featured in this video (filmed in 1982, aired in 1983) went on to careers in fisheries as have many subsequent students who have been the in the club and in the fish and wildlife program at Centennial. The Documentary also won a journalism award.
